About the Scottish Hernia Centre

The Scottish Hernia centre has the expertise and experience of consultant surgeons committed to using the latest surgical techniques including conventional and laparoscopic repair in order to ensure less pain, rapid recovery and very low recurrence rates following hernia surgery.


Initial consultation

Usually the first step is to obtain a referral to the Scottish Hernia Centre from your GP. This enables the specialist to gain as much insight as possible into your medical history.  To make an appointment with one of our consultant surgeons please contact us on 0800 096 5000.

During your initial consultation a complete medical history is obtained. You will undergo a thorough physical examination. Your surgeon will discuss options in treating your hernia and you will be able to ask questions specific to your case.

If you require surgery

If you require surgery, an admission date can be arranged once you have had your initial consultation. Your GP will be kept informed of your treatment.
